Guide · invoicing
How to invoice a client in USDC.
Add a payment link to your invoice. The client opens it, pays the exact amount from any wallet, and the money is in your wallet within a minute — no bank in between, no processor account, nothing held for review.
Why freelancers take USDC
- It is dollars. One USDC is one US dollar, so the invoice amount is the amount you receive. No exchange-rate surprise on the way.
- It is fast. A USDC payment on the Base network settles in seconds, any day of the week. No three-day international transfer.
- It is cheap. The client pays a network fee of a few cents. StableCart takes no percentage of the payment.
Put a payment link on the invoice
- Open stablecart.org/links, paste your wallet address on Base and enter the amount in USD.
- Add the invoice number as the reference, so you know which payment is which.
- Copy the link into your invoice or email, or print the QR code on the PDF.
- When the client pays, the page turns green and the money is already in your wallet.
The link does not expire. The price is fixed the moment your client opens it, so you can send it days before the due date.
Before you send the first one
- Check the client can pay in USDC. This works best with clients in crypto and web3, and with companies that already pay contractors in stablecoins. A client who only pays by card or bank transfer needs another method.
- Use an address on Base. MetaMask, Coinbase Wallet, Rabby and most exchanges support USDC on Base. If you use an exchange address, check it accepts USDC on the Base network specifically.
- Book it like any other income. Getting paid in USDC does not change your tax duties. Ask your accountant how to record it where you live.
Questions
Does my client need an account?
No. They open the link and pay from whatever wallet they already use. Neither of you signs up for anything.
What if the client pays a different amount?
The pay page asks for the exact amount and recognises the payment by it. If a different amount arrives, you see exactly what came in your wallet and settle the difference with the client directly.
How much does it cost?
Nothing per payment. The free plan covers 20 paid orders a month; Pro removes the limit for $12 per 30 days. The client pays the Base network fee, usually a few cents.
Can I turn USDC into money in my bank?
Yes, through a crypto exchange that operates in your country: send the USDC there, sell it, and withdraw. The exchange charges its own fee.
